Bluereach has recognised that for many people, setting up a web site can be quite confusing.
To simplify things, we have put together a number of options for you to choose from, and attempted to put this short explanation together to explain some of the jargon used.
If you know what you want, and don't see a package that suits you, please ask.
If you want a web site that promotes your business or club that will hardly ever change then you want a basic web site.
If your site needs to be changed quite frequently, then you need a Content Management System (CMS). This will give you a control panel enabling the textual and graphical content of the site to be updated.
If you want to display your products but not sell directly on line, then you need a catalogue site.
If you want to sell on line directly from your catalogue of products, then you need a shopping cart with credit card processing facilities.
Both our catalogue and shopping cart come with a control panel that will enable you to keep your site up to date. |

A Shopping cart system will enable you to build a catalogue of products and display that catalogue on the internet for people to browse.
They can choose products from the catalogue and add them to their shopping basket.
When ready, they may proceed to the check out to pay for their goods. Once the goods are paid for, you will be notified of a pending order, then using the admin panel you may produce a picking list/delivery note.
When you despatch the order to your customer, the system will automatically notify them of the shipment. |
| You might not be ready to go the whole way at this point and just want to display your catalogue on the internet. Customers can then call you to place orders. This same package can be used, however should you decide later on to take internet orders, it is a simple upgrade to enable the appropriate credit card payment processor. |
| Our shopping cart solution is usually based on the os-commerce open source package. It is possible for you to opt for our DIY solution. We will install the package and database onto a web site for you to customise yourself. Please note, we do not offer any support if you opt for the DIY package. All support, help and linking into credit card payment systems will be charged for. |
