Bluereach has recognised that for many people, setting up a web site can be quite confusing.
To simplify things, we have put together a number of options for you to choose from, and attempted to put this short explanation together to explain some of the jargon used.
If you know what you want, and don't see a package that suits you, please ask.
If you want a web site that promotes your business or club that will hardly ever change then you want a basic web site.
If your site needs to be changed quite frequently, then you need a Content Management System (CMS). This will give you a control panel enabling the textual and graphical content of the site to be updated.
If you want to display your products but not sell directly on line, then you need a catalogue site.
If you want to sell on line directly from your catalogue of products, then you need a shopping cart with credit card processing facilities.
Both our catalogue and shopping cart come with a control panel that will enable you to keep your site up to date. |

| You already have a good idea how you would like your web site to look. If you have no idea, it might be worth looking at a few sites that already offer similar services or content on the internet. Make a note of a few of these sites as it will be easier when talking to us, if you can show us something. |
| Note down any special features you require, for example do you want animated graphics on the home page. Is there a feed back form or questionaire on the site. How many pages will be on the site. |
| The next part of deciding your requirements is the web address of the site. This is the domain name, for example www.your name.co.uk. Domain names are usually registered for 2 years and must be renewed before they expire. |
| The next piece of the jigsaw is what is termed as the hosting. This is the place on the internet where the web site will be stored and people will be able to use it. The type of hosting you need depends on the type of web site you require and we will advise you of this when we discuss your requirements with you. |
| The domain name registration and hosting can be handled by us on your behalf (which is usually the case) or you can use any hosting company and registration agent you choose. |
| We can either deliver your web site fully published onto the internet for you or on CD for you to install. If we publish your site, we will still provide you with a CD rom containing all the files. |
